Next Saturday, get a taste of Italy in Los Angeles at the sixth annual “Taste of Italy” cultural-gastronomic event, organized by the Italian American Museum of Los Angeles.
The event, which takes place October 11 from 5 pm to 10 pm in downtown L.A., features 50 of the region’s best Italian restaurants and wineries, as well as music entertainment, cooking demonstrations, and celebrity appearances.
Participating restaurants include Valentino, Drago Centro, Locanda Del Lago, Il Fornaio, Naples, Al Bacio, GROM Gelateria, and Celestino. Casa Torelli, Le Vigne, Mazzocco and Ventura Limoncello are just some of the 100 world-class wines and liqueurs that will be served. The Cooking Demo stage will feature masterchef Nico Chessa of Valentino and Di Stefano Cheese, among others.
The LA Opera, Nick D’Egidio, La Dolce Vita, the Lorenzo Grassi Group, the female retro vocalist trio Swing Dolls and Vincent Spano will provide some fantastic music entertainment with an Italian spin.
"Taste of Italy offers a true Italian experience in downtown Los Angeles," said Marianna Gatto, Executive Director of the IAMLA. "Food, wine, and culture are interconnected in the Italian lifestyle."
Taste of Italy is a benefit for the Italian American Museum, which is slated to open in 2015 to document the history and continuing contributions of Italian Americans and Italians to Southern California and the nation. Proceeds will support the museum’s exhibitions and the preservation of the Italian Hall, the oldest remaining structure from the L.A.’s historic little Italy and the building where the Museum is located.
"The Italian American Museum of Los Angeles will be open in the next few months and Taste of Italy is a special opportunity to celebrate the Italian and Italian-American legacy and contributions in the heart of Los Angeles," said Paul Pagnone, president of the IAMLA.
