The axing of Sinisa Mihajlovic in favour of Giuseppe Papadopulo at Bologna Tuesday was Serie A's tenth coaching switch this season.
Mihajlovic had replaced Daniele Arrigoni in November.
The first head to roll in 2009 was at Reggina where Nevio Orlandi returned on January 25 after a brief stint by Giuseppe 'Bepi' Pillon, who had replaced Orlandi in mid-December.
A few days before it had been the turn of Torino boss Gianni De Biasi, with Walter Novellino, the man he replaced 18 months previously, coming back to the helm of 'Il Toro'.
But Novellino got the boot again on March 25 as Giancarlo Camolese took over.
A fortnight before, on March 10, Edy Reja was sacked after five seasons at Napoli in which he took the former Serie A giants back up from Serie C.
On March 9 Lecce switched Mario Beretta for Luigi De Canio.
Serie A 'musical benches' kicked off even earlier than usual this year when 'coach-eating' Palermo Chairman Maurizio Zamparini sacked Stefano Colantuono after the first game of the season, bringing in Davide Ballardini.
Chievo Verona's Beppe Iachini was the second coach who didn't make it to Christmas, out for Mimmo Di Carlo at the start of November.
