(ANSA) - Italy will be hit by a 24-hour train strike starting at 9pm (local) Monday until the same hour on Tuesday, Service on some commuter and long-distance lines will be guaranteed, otherwise the strike will be near total.
The strike was called to protest against what union see as a lack of action by the railways and the government to improve safety in the wake of the January 16 train wreck which left 17 people dead.
A strike was called immediately after the incident and again in March to high light the safety issue.
