Vinitaly, one of the largest international events showcasing wine and spirits, began in Verona yesterday.
The 5-day exhibition has drawn 4,500 producers from all over the world. The purveyors of fine wines will be holding tastings and discuss trends with an expected crowd of over 150,000 visitors and professionals.
The focus of this year's 45th edition of the event will be sparkling wines. Yesterday at the event, experts announced that prosecco was set to outperform champagne again in 2012.
In addition to tastings, the program consists of seminars and competitions. Visitors can also take a tour of wine traditions around the world, with an exhibit dedicated to the distinct wine cultures in 60 different countries.
Vinitaly will run through April 11th, allowing oenologists a chance to experiences another love story in the city of Romeo and Juliet.
