It’s “Addio alla villa” for George Clooney and Eli [Elisabetta] Canalis.
Yes, the fairytale Villa Oleandra, nestling in the idyllic setting of Laglio on Lake Como and scene of the couple’s blossoming love last summer, is up for sale – at a mere 20 million euros.
The paparazzi, who, according to Eli, “made our life hell” have finally caused the golden couple to pack the Louis Vuitton luggage and Maison Gilli bag. Ah, don’t you feel just a little bit sorry for them? It must be tough having your every delivery of caviar filmed.
And talking of caviar, who’s this who wants to buy the romantic villa?
It is none other than vodka billionaire Tariko Roustam and Mr Roustam is used to getting what he wants. He seems to have a rather mysterious love life so we can’t tell you who will share the villa with him if his offer – of 30 or even 40 million euros according to some sources – is accepted. Or maybe the lucky lady will be one of his beloved fast cars.
But wait a minute - here’s someone else who usually gets what he wants, especially if his wife wants it too. And Victoria Beckham is said to want the Villa Oleandra very much, having stayed there as George’s guest. Becks is rumoured to have offered 26 million euros for the house, a place, he says, which “is peaceful, quiet and near Milan”. Hmmm…. Maybe our sporting hero has forgotten about the paparazzi.
Another interested party might – just might – be Mr Berlusconi, who has happy childhood memories of the Como area and has wanted a villa there for some time. As for the locals, they are rooting for Becks.
Which of the three would you prefer as a neighbour?
