They are usually made to measure and Pascucci in Comunanza made ours. I think they were about €80 for about 4m long but that was quite a while ago.

Tie bars for structural purposes?
Submitted by Fillide on Tue, 08/07/2012 - 12:06In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
If you are thinking about putting in tie bars for structural reasons I'd expect an engineer to be involved, and he will specify not only the diameter of the bars, but also the quality of the steel and design of any end plates. In Italy the authorities are very particular about structural alterations (including improvements) especially in zones considered at seismic risk, and the cost of any tie bars is likely to pale into insignificance compared with the fee payable to the engineer for his report!

Totally agree with Fillide. Ours were specified by the engineer who specified the roof beams etc.

Tie Bar Purchase

I bought this one in the USA at Walmart. The price was only $11.50. Not sure if they sell the exact same model in Italy but they should be easy enough to find. Works well as it keeps the ties straight and in order.
