Logging
We have a certain amount of coppice wood on our land and we have already been approached by locals to see if we would allow then to cut it. We have carefully checked the notices posted on other pieces that are being logged and are well aware that formal approval has to be given for any cutting to take place. At the moment we are just stalling, because we have no idea of what kind of agreement would need to be struck with the logger, and more importantly just how much payment we could expect. Our woods are not chestnut, but mainly oak with some ash etc. Access would not be a problem as a public road runs through our land.
We have already been warned that when our planning approval comes through we will have to cut a 50 metre fire break around the house, but apart from that we are reluctant to rush ahead and do too much in one go as we rather like the woods as they are.
Thank you.
