Developments in Proposal on EU Succession law

As I have written in the past on how this future EU Regulation should have a wide-reaching impact on the estates of British citizens in Italy, I am following the developments closely, and still hoping that the UK will choose to opt-in. In December a new draft text was published.

It is clear that the principle of "unity of succession" will be protected, that is a person should have the right for their whole estate (even where there is property in more than one country to pass under one law). (Art. 16) But there is still confusion over possible "ping pong" from a third state, if three or even more countries are involved in the succession. (See Art. 26)
