Hi, does anyone know a variety of peach tree that is resistent to la 'bolla' ? we have lost most of ours to it- though we have sprayed (perhaps not enough)- our apricots are also affected, but seem to be more resistent...

I have found all those plants in nurseries in tuscany- either Valdarno area (round Montevarchi) or Pistoia area- I even found some of them in the Ipercoop at Montevarchi...

My 'compagno' comes from that area and has property there- the difference in asking price for building works- surveyers fees etc between what is charged to his relations who live there- and to him (we live in tuscany.. so not very far away) is incredible- so dread to think how much more they charge foreigners... always get more than one quote! What I have noticed also about that area is that they seem to allow you to do pretty much what you want - at least compared to tuscany... get a second opinion on the beams too-

We've found that things have improved since we changed to 'salt', but also agree using water from the well does cause problems, mains water is already treated, so therefore less algae prone - but very expensive and I'm not sure that you are supposed to use it for such things in the middle of the summer.....

Do remember to disinfect saws and clippers between trees as otherwise you will spread the various diseases that olives are prone too from one tree to the next. We use a small blow lamp or that pink alcohol (denaturato).
