Mary Gray is the Editor-in-Chief of Italy Magazine. Born and raised in Mississippi and now based in Florence, Mary draws from a decade of on-the-ground adventures and an academic background in Italian Studies in her work. An accredited journalist with the Foreign Press Association in Italy, she has written for The Washington Post and Forbes Travel Guide, co-authored guidebooks for Time Out, DK Eyewitness and Lonely Planet, and taught travel writing and fashion media at the university level. Her book Rental Diaries: Thoughts From My Four Walls in Florence, a collection of columns written during her five-year tenure as a deputy editor at The Florentine magazine, was published in 2020. Shabby trattoria tables and markets hawking nonna hand-me-downs are her happy places. (Instagram is not — but, predictably, you can still follow her there: @VeryMaryGray.)
