if you go to www.codicefiscale.com you can calculate your CF without referering to any residence, only your birthplace. Also English version available.

Usually SNC is used when

Usually SNC is used when there is no door number (senza numero civico). You could try that. Alternatively, get the codice fiscale sent to the estate agent you are using. That is very common too. It can always be changed afterwards.

Ah ... THAT'S what SNC means - I saw that in a former deed of sale and wondered if it was pertinent. The funny thing is the catasto says "contrada xxxxx Piano: T-1" which is just a description of the fact that there is a ground and first floor! I've asked the agent and the italian consulate here as well (in my faltering italian, should be amusing to see what language they choose to respond in!) so will see what transpires. Thanks again brancusi

I am UK based and I got my CF from the consulate in Manchester in May this year with no problem, and no Italian address. I only supplied my UK address. Kevin

We obtained our Codice Fiscale about a couple of years ago without having an Italian address and through the Italian Consulate in Madrid (Spain). No problems at all.

Before we even bought a place in Italy, my wife and I obtained a Codice Fiscale at the local town hall in order to be able to open an Italian bank account.

Same here. We downloaded the application forms and posted the completed forms to the Italian Consulate to apply for our CF. We had no fixed Italian address. We had to collect the CF in person though.
