We pay @ 17 euro an hour but that really heavy work strimming under olive trees and terracing and he doesnt hang around. sounds expensive for lighter work ..

10 euros per hour would be a reasonable amount for the work, but most strimmers add on the cost of gasolio and strimmer wires. I guess you could find cheaper as long as he doesn't have to drive too far to your place. If he works fast, I'm not sure I'd argue about it.

If the worker is legitimate and not working "in nero" and he is supplying the strimmer, cord and fuel then it is certainly the going rate around here.

Sounds about right to me - I think the assumption often is that labour is cheap in italy but in our experience it is usually on a par with the uk
