Hotel Marincanto is family

Hotel Marincanto is family owned, so friendly & spotless, I would highly recommend it. You would need to check if it is within your price range though.

Ciao Elise, You mentioned mid-October and as mid-season prices for hotels in Positano usually kicks-in from Oct 13th, you'll probably get some good deals. I have stayed at Hotel Savoia (3-star hotel), no sea-view here, but it's very close to Piazza Mulini, where the internal buses stop and a short walk to the main beach (Spiaggia Grande). It's clean, the staff friendly and they serve a nice buffet breakfast. The price mid-October for a standard room is €100 (i've just checked their online booking system for Oct 15 for 2 people) but I am not sure if breakfast is included. If you pre-pay, (non-refundable), it's even cheaper €90. Here's the link to the Hotel Savoia http://www.savoiapositano.it/en/index.php Here's the review for Hotel Savoia on TripAdvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g194863-d489107-Reviews-Hotel_Savoia-Positano_Amalfi_Coast_Campania.htmlAnother place is Hotel Marincanto and it's offers amazing views. It's a 4-star which means it's pricier at €170 for a standard room. Details here http://www.marincanto.it/en/Tariffe2014_eng.pdf Here are the reviews for Hotel Marincanto on TripAdvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g194863-d557203-Reviews-Hotel_Marincanto-Positano_Amalfi_Coast_Campania.htmlIf you are interested we have a place in Positano that we rent out http://casapositano.wordpress.com/2011/02/06/house-to-rent-positano-amalfi-coast-italy/However, it would only make sense if you are staying for at least a week. If you are only staying a few days, a hotel would be the best option. Hope that helps and have a great time in Positano!!Best, Diana

Thank you all for your advice! Nancy – AirB&B is a great idea, something that I had not thought of but unfortunately, I only need a place for one night so renting an apartment doesn’t make sense. Carol – Hotel Marincanto looks beautiful! But sadly out of my price range. I will certainly keep it in mind for another time. Diana – Thank you very much for taking the time to check the hotel rates. I only need a room for the night of the 12th. It seems as if I am just missing the change in season rates!Your house looks lovely, too bad I only need something for one night! Happy weekend! Elise

Ciao Elisa, Happy to help and for one day, a hotel would be the way to go. The rates of Hotel Savoia are still reasonable even in high season so check them out. A few weeks ago my sister was also doing some research for friends and she found Casa Nilde http://www.bbcasanildepositano.com/The rates for one night on the date you mentioned was €115 but we have never stayed here nor know or heard of others who have. However, based on the photos on their website, it looks lovely. Have fun!!
