Will be there May 12 13....I have seen several conflicting reports about the trail/s re-opening...some say "summer" ....others don't even guess ! will keep fingers crossed, however...I'm certain it's all beautiful wherever one looks and walks, but so much has been printed about the hiking paths ....I'm quite disappointed....

You are correct that the Lovers walk portion of the Cinque Terre trails are still closed.. Most people travel this small section by train currently. You could also add onto the northern end of the tours and walk to Levanto, or travel to Santa Margherita by train and walk in Portofino regional park, it is also truly beautiful..

Thanks for the suggestions, I will research it tomorrow ! We already have booked into Sol Levant in Riomaggiore for 2 nights and originally planned to hike from there to Manarola , now it looks like we will have to hike away from the coastal route and/or take a train further north to Monterosso & hike south instead, or do as you suggest, Grazie !
