We're planning our three week trip

all open in Rome for Easter, but perhaps it would be good to book a hotel room, to avoid having to sleep under some bridges, .. what you mean for affordable Lodging? how many euros to sleep every night? 

Thanks Ugo! What I mean by affordable; is the demand so high during Easter that a simple room or apartment will be overcharged? or do the prices stay the same regardless of the holiday?

it is not that during the Easter period the prices increase, but rather the prices offered will be lower, the lower the chances of finding rooms free those prices -
