Italy's Alenia aerospace group has signed a major new deal with Canada's Bombardier Aerospace for Bombardier's innovative CSeries aircraft, the Italian company said Wednesday.
Alenia Aeronautica will provide the horizontal and vertical stabilizers, fully equipped with hydraulic, electrical and flight control systems, lights and antennas, to be built at its production plant at Pomigliano d'Arco near Naples.
Earlier this month Bombardier and German airline Lufthansa announced the signing of a firm purchase agreement for 30 CSeries model CS100 aircraft with options on an additional 30 CSeries aircraft.
When it enters service in 2013, the CSeries family of aircraft will be the greenest single-aisle aircraft in its class, industry experts say.
Alenia Aeronautica, a Finmeccanica company, is the largest Italian aeronautic player.
