(ANSA) - Savona - An Italian couple took out an entire page in a northern Italian newspaper to mourn its pet dog. The death notice in Genoa daily Secolo XIX showed various happy snaps of dog and family under the large message "Ciao Ugo! We'll always be thinking of you."
Ugo, a seven-year-old Labrador the 30-somethings bought as a puppy, was knocked down by a car at the weekend. The couple, identified only as Andrea and Laura, said their relationship with Ugo had intensified since the birth of their daughter Ilaria eight months ago.
They said Ugo had "immediately" assumed a protective role with the baby.
