A few hours after a devastating earthquake struck L’Aquila on the 6th of April 2009, Marzia Buzzanca made her way to the city center to see what had become of her business. Marzia’s restaurant, Percorsi di Gusto, was in the hard hit red zone but had stood up well. Nevertheless, the Abruzzo native was shocked by the destruction surrounding her.
Three years after the disaster, much of the work of rebuilding L’Aquila remains undone. When Marzia reopened her restaurant on 7th of July 2010, the city center was still cordoned off and deemed unsafe. After the area was secured, the restauranteur set to work helping other businesses re-establish themselves along via Leosini.
Unsatisfied with the speed of recovery, Marzia developed “Cene a quattro mani” to raise support, awareness and funds for reconstruction efforts.
“Cene a quattro mani” brings together two culinary talents, Marzia herself and a visiting chef, to prepare special dinners hosted at Percorsi di Gusto.
The first dinner took place 26th of June 2011 with Davide Oldani of D’O in Milan, but there are seven more chances to attend between July and October.
