Celebrated Italian chef Carlo Cracco is opening his second restaurant in Milan. Unlike the prestigious 2-Michelin starred Cracco Peck, in the Top 50 of the World’s Best Restaurants, the new venture promises to be affordable.
Called “Carlo e Camilla in segheria” (sawmill), the name is ironic in referring not just to the chef (Carlo), but also to the British royals; in segheria refers to the location – the restaurant in fact is located inside a former sawmill, in Via Meda 24 in the Navigli area, and, alongside scraped walls, a wooden roof and bare beams, there will be designer chairs and lamps as well as vintage tableware.
Cracco, regarded as one of the top Italian chefs, is one of the stars of Masterchef Italia, alongside Joe Bastianich and Bruno Barbieri, and will begin hosting Hell’s Kitchen Italia on Sky Italy in April 2014.
Carlo e Camilla in segheria, which features just one big table with 60 seats, is scheduled to open in March.
