The man at the centre of Italy's 2006 Calciopoli match-fixing scandal said Friday he had received an offer from ''a major European club''.
''It's all true, I received an interesting offer in December,'' former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi said about recent press rumours.

He said the unidentified club wanted him to help it gear up to win the Champions League.

''It's a big club, but I would only be a consultant to the chairman,'' said Moggi, who said he would decide whether to accept the offer ''shortly''.

Moggi is on trial in Naples with 23 other Calciopoli defendants on charges ranging from sports fraud to criminal association.
