The Infiorata festivals throughout Italy are absolutely a site worth seeing. We had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful 'terra del tufo' town of Pitigliano in Tuscany, perched upon a cliff embedded with Etruscan tombs, during this year's celebration of Corpus Domini (Corpus Christi), typically held nine weeks after Easter. The town was covered in beautiful carpets of flowers and other organic materials. The process of creating these special designs are often complicated, taking two to three days to complete. Afterwards a religious procession takes place around the town with everyone in attendance.
