Ten Photos to Inspire a Visit to the Amalfi Coast
“The Costiera Amalfitana is an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, with exceptional cultural and natural scenic values resulting from its dramatic topography and historical evolution.” Thus UNESCO describes the reason for inscription of the Amalfi Coast into its World Heritage List.
This very popular 50-kilometer stretch of coast indeed amazes for its sheer cliffs plunging into the sea, its rugged shoreline housing historic pastel-colored fishing villages and tiny pebbled coves, magnificent villas, and a pervasive scent of lemons, which are cultivated extensively, giving birth to that all-time favorite liqueur, limoncello.
While Positano is the star among the Amalfi Coast villages, and receives the larger number of visitors, don’t dismiss other equally enchanting little towns, such as Ravello, Atrani, Vietri sul Mare, Praiano, Amalfi, Sorrento, and more.
Here are ten photos to inspire a visit to the Amalfi Coast, Positano and beyond.
