Ok, I have been informed by some friends as i still have some mortgage remaining with Barclays it. that i cannot sell the house..is this rubbish . please advise

Selling a home in Italy, please inform me of the tax ruling , i am 69yrs and have lived in my home for four years six months, is it 3 or5 years that i do not pay tax on the sale.  Many thanks.  Billy
