I have a regular sum of money sent over from the UK every month. This month however the money left my UK account and has yet to arrive here in Italy (Banca della Marche).

I saw this comment from a Californian news item............Emerging Cuisines from Emerging Markets - As the world grows smaller, the selection of cuisines grows larger and guests’ palettes are begging to try new flavours.

It will take a quite monumental event to prise us from our wonderful life and friends here. BUT,................. what/where is the future for the younger generation here ?

Being a full time resident here in Italy, we are having a month or so on holiday in another EU country (not in the UK, our country of origin). Does anybody know what 'travel' related health cover are we 'entitled' to ?

"Mr Berlusconi told Italian television: "Life in Italy is good. The restaurants are full. It's difficult to get a seat on a plane they're so busy; holidays are all booked up."There you go then, no financial crisis here !?S

I also find it MOST irritating as I too also like the Englsih commentary, ESPECIALLY as the suggest that you have a choice! I noticed the Everton/Arsenal game last weekend was in English also, but for almost all of the others one can only have Italian........grrrrr!! S

There is a VERY similar tasting PRE-PACKED cheese at COAL shops(and also Eurospin) ..........our COAL normally stocks it in the refridgerated shelves. It is semi circular in shape and usually about 1 to 3 cms thick. It grates well, toasts very well (as I think it is cows cheese rather than sheeps (?)), and with a bit of raw onion it makes a fine cheese and onion sandwich! It is called: Provolone Valpadana D.O.P. Piccante YUM YUM ! S

Re: "when Italy will get into the real world of other foodstuffs readily available at uninflated prices." .........I too am amazed at the cost of these things, I understand that the locals will not buy them because they don't want them, but there are times when one feels that prices are indeed inflated. But I'm not sure how much (for instance) Cheddar Cheese(!!) costs in the UK anymore? Having said that...........there are very few things that I miss/need from old blighty, S

Sadly, I think you have a significant problem here regarding the  relationship with your geometra............there does seem a bit of a problem with some of these relationships here. I think new people coming to live in Italy should MAKE SURE that their geometra is likely to accommodate all of your needs. Once that relationship is broken it is very difficult to get things back on track! the very best of luck ! S

I have to agree that the site loads slower than most (if not all) of the others I access. I'm sure the powers that be will investigate........there seems a lot of (in my view) unfair negative commentary about this site at the moment. There is a LOT of useful info here, don't let the sluggishness affect your view............. S
