Fiumefreddo Bruzio (The Essential Guide to Calabria)

Fiumefreddo Bruzio is a town and comune in the province of Cosenza in the Calabria region of southern Italy. With its narrow stone paved streets, the historical centre is distinguished by the presence of numerous monuments and palaces. Among the most important of them are the church of S. Michele Arcangelo, Palazzo del Barone Del Bianco, Palazzo Gaudiosi, Palazzo Zupi and Church of San Rocco. The Castello della Valle (Fiumefreddo Castle), founded in 1201, houses several works of local painter Salvatore Fiume. The castle was besieged in 1806-1807 by French troops, and nearly destroyed.
