Y, its a very good idea.  Your father can make a donation to you at the notary, which doesnt require your presence in italy.  All he will need is your codice fiscale and other details.  It all has a cost, similar to buying the properties, but the good thing is that you will avoid all the complications of Italian inheritance law if the priperties are signed over to you before his death.

Can I ask, how is the property in your married name if your cf is in your maiden name.  The notaio accepted it?

You are in the 7th circle of bureacratic hell.    If iwere you, id just go along to the Agenzia dell?entrate with your passport and ask for a new codice fiscale- attribuzione del codice fiscale, and deny that you have ever had one before.  They will give you a new one in your married passport name, and that is all that matters.    According to Italian law you and your maiden name existence are two separate people

Trapani, being a place well served by Ryanair does have a lot of holiday home owners.  How many live here full time is difficult to say, seeing that the Italian system doesnt make it easy or cheap.   You will find a pretty international crowd in Siracusa, and obviously in Taormina.   It juest depends on how big a group of friends you want.   Cianciana for instance - no good for you as too inland - seems to have a large expat population.   Noto is a good bet - if you can find moorings, but Marsala I would think has very little going on,  same with most of the south coast until you get to Scoglitti..

In Trapani there will be some, but most people come to Sicily to escape.  They want to integrate and not have a cricket club and bridge evenings!

Disposal of tilees can be hugely expensive depending on your comune.   Its an inverse logic, that to stop builders rubble being chucked on the roadside the comune charges a fortune for it to be disposed of property. If you keep your tiles for making cocciapeste or using for edging flowerbeds/lawns you will save some money.

The DURC is essential, and is easy to obtain if you are a builder who is up to date with INPS contributions and taxes etc.  THe builder has to be named inthe SCIA which is given to the comune, and along with that, his DURC:

No its nothing to do with seismic.  Its a health and safety thing to stop roofers falling off the roof.

You'll also find that the law has changed and that now you must put a safety bar on the roof - which has a cost of about 600 euros.  Because you're doing the work with at least a SCIA you will also need a company which can supply the DURC and all the other related health and safety stuff.

If it is one of the heirs that was cited in the will and the succession has been done that I would assume that the heir in question would have already accepted/not accepted the succession.    If they accepted and have now changed their mind it becomes a lot more complicated.   You need to talk a notaio.  There are Italian notaries in the UK if you are there, at least 2 in London that I know of.
